one book challenge progress
As expected, I gave up on The Lake of Dead Languages and moved on to Time Traveller's Wife. I'm already 80 pages in, and I'm looking forward to it. Imagine not being able to stay at one place, and being brought in and out of your present and future naked and with no money. An interesting story.

my progress...
25 Dec 2008 12.43am
I always have a problem with re-starting a book I have read but not enough time to finish. I guess the attraction is gone the second time round. That goes the same with The Lake of Dead Languages. I've always been meaning to read after I had to return it back to the library but never been able to go past the same pages, same lines I've read before. So there, I'm stuck with this book at page 13. Not that it isn't interesting. It is, I need to unravel the mystery but I'm just stuck. It's alright, even though I'm not determined to add this book in my TBR Lite Challenge, I'm determined to move ahead and see how it goes.

update
I have finally found a challenge that's suitable for me. The TBR Lite Challenge. It gives 3 options and I have to go with option C.
OPTION C: make up a list of however many books you think you could get read in 12 months, as long as they are from your TBR stack/list, and then read them between January 1st and December 31st. You must have at least 3 books on your list.
3 books in 12 months seems alright. I'm not sure whether I'll be signing up officially but definitely will be a personal challenge. The 3 titles are:
1. The Blood of Flowers
2. Time Traveller's Wife
3. (undecided between The Secret Scripture and one of Mitch Albom's books. will update)

wow. I've just checked out challenges out there. 100+ books in a year, 52 books in 12 mths. no way i can achieve that. I've just saw one- 20 in 2009, well at least that's attainable for me. I see a lot of tbr challenges- from the stack, rescue challenge, ban from spending. those are what i need to join in. I buy too much books, but too little time to read! I have no idea how one gets time to read in their busy lives?? clueless. but still those challenges i'm afraid i cant do. so i'm starting afresh, starting from scratch, taking the first step or however you might term it and aim to read one book. yes, only one book at a time. inspired by amy's read one book challenge. no time limits, or maybe in 6 mths, i have to finish at least a book. yes. and that lucky book will be: The Lake of Dead Languages by Carol Goodman which i got leisurely from my public library, yesterday. great. i've written it down and i'm acting it out, hopefully. nope, surely.
challenges!
Once again, books have rekindled my interest in book challenges. I was so caught up with life in 2008, I lost touch with my books! I hope 2009 will be better. But this year, I wont be joining challenges officially. 2009 will mostly be personal challenges and will see whether I'm up for it. But I will definitely get my ideas from the book challenges readily available. I need to catch up on my reading!
